The Pope’s 60 Minutes Interview Sparks Outrage Among US Conservative

11

In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, Pope Francis opened up about his views on various social and political issues, causing a stir among American conservatives. While the Pope's message of compassion and tolerance resonates with many, others are questioning his progressive stance on hot-button topics.

One of the main points of contention from US conservatives was the Pope's stance on same-sex marriage. In the interview, he expressed his belief that homosexuals should be accepted with "respect, compassion, and sensitivity," a statement that has ignited backlash from those who believe marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

This has sparked a heated debate within conservative circles, with some labeling the Pope as "too liberal" and "out of touch" with traditional Catholic values.

The Pope's views on immigration also raised eyebrows among US conservatives. In the interview, he spoke out against the harsh treatment of migrants and refugees, urging countries to welcome and assist those in need. This has been met with criticism from some who argue that the Pope should focus on spiritual matters rather than political ones.

But it wasn't just the Pope's opinions on social issues that ruffled feathers. His call for greater financial transparency within the Catholic Church also drew ire from conservative circles. With his vow to clean up corruption and prioritize the poor, the Pope's actions have sparked concerns among some wealthy Catholics who fear losing their influence within the Church.

Despite the backlash, many are applauding the Pope's interview as a refreshing and much-needed perspective. His emphasis on humility, mercy, and inclusion has struck a chord with those seeking a more progressive and modern Catholic Church. This has led to a divide among US conservatives, with some questioning their loyalty to the Pope and others standing firm in their traditional beliefs.

As the controversy continues to unfold, the Pope remains steadfast in his message of love and unity. He has called for a more open dialogue and understanding among all individuals, regardless of their beliefs. While his progressive stance may have ruffled feathers among US conservatives, it has also sparked important conversations and debates about the role of the Catholic Church in today's society.

One thing is for certain, the Pope's 60 Minutes interview has shed light on the evolving views of the Catholic Church and has sparked a much-needed discussion about the role of religion in shaping social and political issues. Whether you agree or disagree with his statements, one thing is clear: the Pope's message is one of love and acceptance, and that is a message that transcends all boundaries.

  1. The balance between Divine Justice and Divine Mercy will only be decided by God Almighty. Ot a human being.

  2. His statement about gay marriage would have been acceptable if he included the fact that they MUST REPENT or will not be entering the Kingdom of God. If anyone is supposed to believe all that the Bible teaches you would think it would be the Pope.

    • I too find homosexuality personally repulsive, but judge not lest ye be judged, love thy neighbor as thyself does not have qualifiers, and near as I can tell neither the 10Commandments or anything in Jesus’s teachings says homosexuality is a sin. And Jesus would NOT be a consevative or liberal, he’d be apolitical as a citizen of Gods kingdom, we are to be removed from all earthly things, politics especially. But we were told to be aware of false prophets, of sinners who use his name to acquire earthly power.

  3. He is a borderline heretic and has strayed from Catholicism.
For him to say what he did, is a slap in the face of true Christians. No wonder people are leaving the church. We cannot respect his words and actions any longer. What next…condoning abortion?
He has been grabbed by the devil and must break free before he passes because he will not find a place in heaven.

  4. Has the Pope ever read the Bible, where it specifically states that marriage should be between a man and woman, NOT two men or two women???
Genesis 2:24 states “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
Matthew 19:4-5, Jesus reaffirms this: “He answered. ‘Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female’. and said ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one’?”
Leviticus 18:22 “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable”
Leviticus 20:13 “If a man lies with a man as one lies with woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads”

  5. This isn’t a Catholic Pope, he’s an apostate, this isn’t surprising as revelations has predicted such a man, he works for satan as his cardinals do as well

  6. I think it is time for our Pope to retire. He was elected as a liberal following the conservative Pope Benedict. He speaks out about politics when his role is to guide people about the values of our religion. When he spoke against President Trump a few years ago, I was so upset that I stopped listening to him. His statement about gays just confuses Catholics because it is ignoring all the teaching of the Catholic Church.

  7. Little p claims “homosexuals should be accepted with “respect, compassion, and sensitivity.” I don’t think so, at least not me. I will never accept homosexuality because to accept something means it is acceptable. No, little p, I will never accept homosexuality, I will only acknowledge it.

  8. conservative is about personal responsibility, free markets leading to the need for less government so that the filthy rich white greedy man can get richer while the poor get poorer and freedom to cheat lie steal and stab his own brother in the back to get ahead by any ways and means possible. Rich White man authoritarianism with no empathy!!!!

  9. Repent is the justification that it’s alright to leave the Sunday service and go out and do the same crappy ugly stuff and harshly judge others and degrade and treat those badly who do not believe as you do!

  10. Is the Pope reading the same Bible that I am reading?

    * LEVITICUS 20:13 – IF A MAN LIES WITH A MAN AS ONE LIES WITH A WOMAN, BOTH OF THEM HAVE DONE WHAT IS DETESTABLE.
    * ROMANS 1:17 VERSE 26 – BECAUSE OF THIS GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO SHAMEFUL LUSTS. EVEN THEIR WOMEN EXCHANGED NATURAL RELATIONS FOR UNNATURAL ONES. IN THE SAME WAY THE MEN ALSO ABANDONED NATURAL RELATIONS WITH WOMEN AND WERE INFLAMED WITH LUST FOR ONE ANOTHER. MEN COMMITTED INDECENT ACTS WITH OTHER MEN, AND RECEIVED IN THEMSELVES THE DUE PENALTY FOR THEIR PERVERSION.

As I understand from the Bible, these people MUST REPENT from their sexual sins. NOT ACCEPTED as normal.

As I understand from the Bible ALL Christians no matter what denomination must show humility, and ask GOD for forgiveness and mercy from our sins.
